چکیده

CMV: cytomegalovirus PCR: polymerase chain reaction INTRODUCTION Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) serology is positive in nearly two-thirds of individuals in the United States, but cutaneous manifestations of infection are exceedingly rare. To our knowledge, few cases of CMV-induced cutaneous manifestations have been reported and most commonly occur in immunocompromised populations. Here we report a case of localized sclerodermoid skin changes in an immunocompetent patient with CMV infection.

The Histopathological Changes and Immunohistochemical Findings of Acute, Chronic Nonlupoid and Chronic Lupoid Types of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

Background & Aims: Dry type localized cutaneous Leishmaniasis due to Leishmania tropica is one of the most prevalent cutaneous parasitic infections in Kerman province. It seems that cellular immune response and the nature of immune inflammatory cells comprising the inflammatory background play a determinant role in this infection. Methods: Skin biopsies of 53 patients with acute(<2 years durati...

Disseminated sporotrichosis and Sporothrix schenckii fungemia as the initial presentation of human immunodeficiency virus infection.

Infection with Sporothrix schenckii causes a localized lymphocutaneous disease in the immunocompetent host, while it frequently results in disseminated disease in the immunocompromised patient. There are a growing number of reports of S. schenckii infection in the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected population, where the disease usually starts as a localized cutaneous lesion and subsequ...

Cytomegalovirus Colitis in an Immunocompetent Patient: Report of a Case

Abstract Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a virus that can be consider as invasive infection after transplantation or chemotherapy, long-term corticosteroid users or in immunodeficient patients such as HIV. Different complications were seen in immunocompetent patients but colitis rarely occurs. The diagnosis of CMV was based on pathology by colonoscopy, positive CMV antigen and high CMV-IgM titer serum...

Ménétrier's disease and severe gastric ulcers associated with cytomegalovirus infection in an immunocompetent child: a case report.

In pediatric patients, Ménétrier's disease is an uncommon clinical entity that has been rarely described only as sporadic cases, and the etiology is unclear. These patients usually have a self-limiting clinical course. Cytomegalovirus is an important pathogen in the immunocompromised host. However, cytomegalovirus infection can be detected in non-immunocompromised children. We discuss the possi...

Severe gastroenteritis as presentation of a primary cytomegalovirus infection in an immunocompetent woman

In immunocompetent hosts, symptomatic cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection occurs in around 10% and has traditionally been considered to have a benign, self-limiting course. Active CMV infection in immunocompetent subjects is very rare. However, manifestations of CMV infection in immunocompromised hosts have been extensively reported. We present a case of a 58-year-old immunocompetent woman with a p...
